Halt to repression of champions of reunification in S. Korea urged

Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) — The South Korean authorities have revealed their intention to detain the delegates of Hanchongryon (South Korean Federation of University Student Councils and Father Mun Gyu Hyon and his party, who participated in the August 15 grand pro-reunification festival at Panmunjom.

In this connection, a spokesman of the commonwealth of independent states regional headquarters of Pomminryon (National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification) made public a statement on August 18.
The statement noted that the “Grand Festival for National Reconciliation, Unity and Reunification”, which was held amid the ever growing desire of the entire fellow countrymen for national reunification, was a festival which would be recorded as a brilliant chapter in the Korean nation’s history of the reunification movement.
However, the South Korean authorities employed all means to obstruct the festival from the initial stage, it said.
The statement strongly urged them to immediately stop the repression of patriotic-minded students and religionists, as unanimously demanded by the entire fellow countrymen.
