Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) — A “September 10 Prize” international Taekwon-do tournament will be held in Korea every other year.
The tournament is to be held on the occasion of the 10th of September, anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung ‘s on-the-spot guidance to the Taekwon-do hall.
The first tournament opened here on Thursday.
Men’s team pattern, men’s team sparring and men’s and women’s individual sparring competitions will be held.
Participating in the tournament are Taekwon-do players and delegates from Madagascar, Bulgaria, Slovakia, China, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and the DPRK teams (A and B).
Secretary Kim Jung Rin of the Workers’ Party of Korea Central Committee and others were present at the opening ceremony.
Some events were held on the day.
The DPRK team a placed first, China second and DPRK team B third in the men’s team pattern competition.
Korean players came first in the men’s individual pattern competition (1st-3rd class) and the women’s individual pattern competition (1st class).
