September 9 Street

The street built on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the DPRK (Sept.9), runs 8 kilometres long from Rimhung rotary linked with the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the sacred temple of Juche, to Sinmi-dong.
It is in good harmony with a highway on the highest scientific and technical level, September 9 bridge over 1,300 metres long and other bridges, ornamental forests on both sides and dwelling houses for some 2,000 households.
With the construction of the street, Pyongyang has been changed anew and traffic network on the outskirts of Pyongyang improved.
This monumental creation in the era of the Worker’s Party was built by soldiers of the Korean People’s Army and construction workers in one year.
They introduced new methods with their own designs and efforts to step up the whole projects, tiding over manifold hardships and trials in the spirit of revolutionary soldiers.
They completed concrete tamping of hundreds of piers in some ten days and successfully finished the work of filling, road pavement of over 456,700 square metres, construction of several bridges, tunneling of hundreds of metres and other difficult projects.
The new street built under difficult conditions is a display of the Korean people’s firm faith and revolutionary spirit to surely build a strong and prosperous socialist country on this land under the guidance of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It is also a demonstration of the might of the independent national economy, unaffected by any move of the enemies to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
