Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) — A spokesman for the north headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification (Pomminryon) published a statement on Saturday denouncing the South Korean authorities’ repression of pro-reunification patriotic figures as unpardonable anti-national, anti-reunification crime of the separatist forces.
The South Korean rulers arrested Choe Jin Su, Secretary General of the Pomminryon south headquarters, groundlessly charging him with “helping” the delegates of Hanchongryon (South Korean Federation of University Student Councils) to take part in the August 15 grand pro-reunification festival.
They also detained Father Mun Kyu Hyon on charges of “infiltration and escape”, the statement recalled, and said:
There is no room for argument about Hanchongryon delegates’ participation in the festival. However, the South Korean authorities have clamoured about “help” in an insidious attempt to destroy pomminryon and Hanchongryon and, furthermore, all the reunification movement forces in South Korea.
Their harsh suppression of patriotic activities for national reconciliation and unity shows that “dialogue and reconciliation” and “cooperation and exchange” on their lips are only a sham and a doctrine for confrontation with the north.
What the South Korean rulers seek in this is to find a way out of the political and economic crisis caused by their sycophantic and treacherous policy of dependence on outsiders and eliminate the progressive pro-reunification patriotic forces against them.
They must know that they will face a miserable end for their challenge to the people’s desire for national reconciliation, unity and reunification.
