Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) – General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter of thanks from the participants in the sixth Pyongyang film festival of non-
Aligned and other developing countries on September 26.
The letter said:
The Pyongyang film festival held in the idea of independence, peace and friendship marked an effective occasion for the progressive people and moviemen aspiring after a civilized and harmonious life in an independent and prosperous new world to exchange achievements and experience in the building of national cinema and expand friendship, solidarity, interchange and cooperation so as to jointly promote the development of true cinematic art.
The festival afforded a deeper understanding of the significance and role of cinema in the building of a new independent society, awakened moviemen further to the mission and obligation of the times and confirmed the resolution and will to hold the Pyongyang film festival on a global scale.
The participants expressed their determination to support and encourage the just struggle of the Korean people for independent reunification and development of the country and make joint efforts for the progress of true cinema of mankind with the moviemen of Korea.
The letter wished the respected Kim Jong Il, a close friend and teacher of them, a long life in good health, hoping for the reunification of Korea and the eternal happiness of the Korean people and for the development of the progressive cinematic art of the world.
