Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) — Papers here today observe the day of the UN in their signed articles papers point to the enormous efforts exerted by the UN to ensure the peace and security of the world and the social and economic development in the developing countries since its foundation.
Noting that the principle of justice and impartiality is ignored in the international relations and the principle of sovereignty and equality is shaken in UN activities, Rodong Sinmun says:
The coming 21st century should be a century based on independence in which power politics and arbitrary practice are no longer allowed and the sovereignty of all countries is equally respected.
To this end, all member countries of the UN should make efforts to check power politics and arbitrary practice in the international relations and to establish a fair international order.
The issue of the democratic reform of the UN is high on its agenda.
It is important for the democratic reform of the UN to raise its authority and reform the Security Council.
Impartiality will be ensured in UN activities and power politics and arbitrary practice of individual countries be prevented if the UN General Assembly is mandated to handle such important problems as ensuring global peace and security and finalize such important resolutions of the security council as those on sanctions and use of force, in particular.
At the same time, the Security Council should be reformed in such a way as to ensure that all regions are equally represented in the Security Council and all its activities are open to the fullest extent.
Minju Joson says that the world people wish to see the UN reformed democratically to work true to its noble mission and task.
