Abolition of S. Korea’s “security law” urged

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) — The U.S. headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification, the Western Area Association of Koreans in the U.S., the south California branch of the American Association for Independence, Democracy and Reunification and other Koreans’ organizations in America issued a joint statement on Oct. 5 in demand of the abolition of the “security law” in South Korea.

The statement said that with the year 2000 approaching, the Korean nation is strongly calling for an end to the history of division spanning more than half a century.

In order to realise reconciliation and reunification between the north and south, the “security law”, which defines the fellow countrymen as an “enemy”, should be abolished in the south, it held, denouncing the present South Korean ruling forces for their suppression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces by the evil law.
