Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) — The head of the DPRK delegation, addressing the 30th conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on November 16, said that the country’s grain output is gradually increasing but it still needs international assistance because the food situation remains difficult.
The Korean people are now striving hard to develop agriculture full of faith and optimism even under the unfavorable situation where not a few consequences of the natural disaster remain and abnormal weather persists, he noted, and continued:
The grain output for this year is estimated to be slightly bigger than last year thanks to the correct policy and strenuous efforts of the government, but it is too insufficient to meet the nation’s demand for grain.
Touching on the importance of the role of the FAO, he underscored the need for the organization to pay primary attention to the improvement of agriculture in the developing countries and strengthen technological cooperation to those countries and called on all the countries to increase donation and aid for the development of agriculture in the developing countries.
