Kim Jong Il registered as honorary citizen of Peru

Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) — The Council of Huaura province, Peru, adopted a decision on registering General Secretary Kim Jong Il as an honorary citizen of Huacho city on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of his election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army.


A ceremony of awarding a certificate of honorary citizenship and a gold medal was held in the Huaura provincial office in Peru on November 26.

Present at the ceremony were the Mayor of Huacho who is also the governor of the province, members of the council, the DPRK ambassador to Peru and his embassy officials.

The certificate of honorary citizenship and gold medal were handed to the DPRK ambassador by the governor of the province after the decision of the council was read out at the ceremony.

The governor said: It is an honor and pleasure for all the people in the province and city to have decided to register supreme leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Il as an honorary citizen of Huacho city and award a certificate of honorary citizenship and a gold medal to him on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of his election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, in recognition of his immortal contribution to the global peace, progress and the accomplishment of the world people’s cause of independence. He sincerely wished him a long life in good health and greater success in his work of leading Korea.

The certificate of honorary citizenship reads: The Huacho City Hall in Huaura Province, has registered Kim Jong Il, supreme leader of the DPRK, as an honorary citizen of Huacho city.
