S. Korean Authorities’ Submission to U.S. Economic Pressure Assailed

Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) — It has been disclosed that in the negotiations on rice the south Korean authorities submitted to the brigandish pressure of the United States for opening rice market. In this regard, Mun Kyong Sik, chairman of the Federation of Peasants’ Associations in south Korea, reportedly released a statement on June 9, urging the authorities to immediately nullify the results of the pro-American rice negotiations by the U.S. pressure.

The statement said the disclosure of the fact proves that the remarks of the minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the minister of Agriculture that there can be no additional content except the behind-the-scene agreement were a trick to deceive the people.

We strongly demand that the government promptly withdraw the “motion on ratification” submitted to the “National Assembly”, the statement said, urging the U.S. to stop its economic pressure at once.
