Probe into GI Murder of S. Korean Woman Urged

Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) — The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration reportedly issued a statement on June 12, demanding a thorough probe into the U.S. soldiers’ murder of a south Korean woman by a truck and punishment of criminals.

The recent case was not just an accident but evidently a deliberate murder, the statement said, adding: What infuriates us is that the U.S. military side had procrastinated an inspection of the scene, talking about concern over possible “infringement upon the mourning right” and threat of “personal safety” afraid of the revelation of its soldiers’ deliberate action, before conducting a surprise investigation by itself two days after the incident.

The statement urged the south Koreans not to be taken in any longer by the U.S. forces’ operation to cover up the murder case, ensure thorough investigation and probe the truth behind the case so as to prevent the recurrence of such tragedy.

It called for making this year, 60 years after the U.S. military occupation of south Korea and three years after the death of Hyo Sun and Mi Son, as a nationwide struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops.
