Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) — A seminar of workers in the field of education was held at the Grand People’s Study House on Friday to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of President Kim Il Sung’s famous work “On Strengthening the Work of Education and Scientific Research at Colleges and Universities”.
The work, published on July 1, Juche 44(1955), clarifies the importance of training native cadres, the position and role of Kim Il Sung University in it, the close combination of theoretical education with practice, the issue of educating the students in the spirit of faithfully serving the Party and revolution, the country and people and in the ardent love for the people and the issue of positively conducting scientific researches at colleges and universities to contribute to developing the national economy and promoting the well-being of the people.
Speakers including Song Ja Rip, president of Kim Il Sung University, said that the validity and vitality of the ideas and theories set out in the work have been clearly proven in the educational practice over the last half a century.
Referring to the fact that leader Kim Jong Il has remained true to the Juche-oriented educational idea of the President, they stressed that under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il a revolutionary change has taken place in the efforts to train the students as revolutionary intellectuals in the Songun era and put the nation’s science and technology on a higher level.
The speakers called on the officials, teachers and researchers in the educational field to deeply study and grasp the ideas and theories set out in the famous work of the President, explain and prove the greatness of the immortal exploits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu and the Party’s Songun politics and successfully solve urgent scientific and technological problems related to the development of the national economy and the improvement of the standard of people’s living and thus brilliantly decorate the 60th anniversaries of the Workers’ Party of Korea and national liberation.
Present there were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, and others.
