Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) — A demonstration was staged by at least 10,000 members of various social organizations, citizens and students in Phyongthaek, Kyonggi Province, on July 10 in protest against the expansion of the U.S. military base and the U.S. moves for another Korean war, according to the south Korean MBC.
Prior to the start of the demonstration, its participants declared that to check the expansion of the U.S. military base means protecting the vital rights of the Phyongthaek citizens and checking the U.S. forces’ moves for another Korean war and vowed to escalate their action into all parts of south Korea.
When they marched towards the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, the riot police stood in their way. But they went ahead, chanting “No expansion of U.S. military base” and other slogans.
At least 250 demonstrators were seriously wounded in the clash with the riot police.
They fired even water-cannons at the demonstrators and walked off some of them.
