Special Envoy of Chinese President Feted

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) — The DPRK government hosted a banquet in honor of Councilor of the State Council of China Tang Jiaxuan, special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao on a visit to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Tuesday evening.

Present there on invitation were Tang Jiaxuan, Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, Chen Jinyu, deputy secretary general of the State Council, Wu Dawei, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Liu Hongcai, deputy head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, An Min, vice-minister of Commerce, Chen Xiaogong, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the C.C., the CPC, and others.

Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, Paek Nam Sun, minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Ryong Nam, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, and officials concerned.
Paek Nam Sun in a speech said that he was pleased with the fact that the DPRK-China relations are constantly growing stronger in the spirit agreed upon between the top leaders of the two countries despite the present complicated international situation.

He sincerely wished the Chinese people greater success in their efforts to build a comprehensively well-off society and reunify the country by carrying out the resolutions of the 16th Party Congress under the leadership of the CPC with Hu Jintao as general secretary.

The DPRK will as ever join the Chinese comrades in meeting all challenges of history and making positive efforts to boost the traditional DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations in all fields, he stressed.

Tang Jiaxuan in his speech said that the Sino-DPRK friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples as it was provided and cultivated by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries.

It is the steadfast policy of the Chinese party and government to consolidate and develop the Sino-DPRK friendly and cooperative ties, he noted, adding that the Chinese people would strive hard to develop those ties in the spirit of inheriting tradition, orienting to the future and boosting good neighborliness and friendship and cooperation.

The Korean people are registering great successes in the efforts to develop economy, improve the north-south relations and build a great prosperous powerful nation under the wise leadership of the WPK and the government of the DPRK headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, he noted.
