Japan’s Move to Evade Responsibility for Its Past Crimes under Fire

Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) — We vehemently denounce Japan for persistently scheming to evade the responsibility and settlement of its past crimes while justifying its colonial rule over Korea even 60 years after its defeat.

A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea said this in a statement issued Saturday in the run-up to the 60th anniversaries of Korea’s liberation and Japanese imperialists’ defeat.

The Korean workers and union members are not repressing the surging resentment at the monstrous crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists during their occupation of Korea, the statement said, and went on:

The Korean workers and other people will deal a heavy blow at the Japanese reactionaries and give vent to the heart-rending grudge if Japan continues to evade the responsibility for its past crimes and justify them.

It expressed the conviction that trade union organizations and working people of different countries who value justice and peace will more loudly condemn Japan for its crafty and shameless act of not honestly redressing its past crimes.
