Kim Jong Il sends greetings to Bashar Al-Assad

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) — Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Tuesday sent a message of greetings to Bashar Al-Assad, regional secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party and president of Syria, on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the March 8 revolution in Syria.

The Syrian people have made great achievements in their struggle to push aside the interference and pressure of the imperialists and the Zionists and achieve the prosperity and development of the country under the correct leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party after the revolution, the message said, and went on:
The Korean people extend invariable support and solidarity to the Syrian people in their just cause to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country and solve the issue of the Middle East in a fair and package way.

Expressing the belief that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to strengthen and develop in the future, too, the message sincerely wished him good health and happiness as well as the friendly Syrian people new progress and prosperity.
