Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) — The struggle of the residents in Phyongthaek and activists of the social organizations against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek is just. We, therefore, support their actions and will join them in their struggle.
A joint assembly grouping more than 30 human rights organizations of south Korea declared this in a statement issued on Mar. 15 assailing the authorities for their moves to requisition land for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek. With nothing can the authorities justify their anti-human rights moves to kill people for a war and a military purpose, it noted.
The statement vehemently condemned the “Ministry of National Defence” and the police for abusing the rights of the south Koreans for the sake of the “U.S-south Korea alliance”.
