Greening Work Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) — A campaign for greening streets, parks and roadsides is being vigorously launched in different provinces, cities and counties across the DPRK when the spring has come.

In Pyongyang not only employees of institutions and factories but also residents of neighborhood units have turned out in planting good species of roadside trees and flower plants in areas along main streets, parks, recreation grounds and roadsides, adding beauty to the landscape of the city.

Those in North Phyongan Province, setting themselves to plant more than 99 million trees this year, are engaged in transplanting trees in areas along the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway and around Thaechon Power Station No.4 and roadsides in Pakchon, Nyongbyon and Hyangsan Counties.

Tens of thousands of roadside trees have already been planted in Kumya County, South Hamgyong Province.

Meanwhile, afforestation work is being done in mountains of different areas of the country on the principle of planting right kinds of trees on right soil.
In South Phyongan Province, acacia and Evodia Daniellii Benn forests are being created in Phyongsong, Phyongwon, Mundok, Sukchon and Anju areas and larch and pine-nut tree forests in Tokchon, Pukchang, Maengsan and Nyongwon areas.
Jagang Province plans to plant pine-nut, larch and Populus Canadensis in over 20,000 hectares of mountains this year. And cities and counties of the province including Kanggye City are planting tens of thousands of trees a day. Efforts are being made to create more than 100 hectares of windbreak forests on the table land of Osu Hill in Junggang County.

The working people throughout the country are striving hard to plant more trees compared with the last spring when they had transplanted over one billion trees in some 100,000 hectares of land.
