Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) — Myongchon County in North Hamgyong Province has been well known for its hot springs in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
There are famous Mt. Chilbo, the Hwangjin, Sari, Taho and Manho Spas in the county. And 50-98 degrees C of spring water gushes out in different places of the county.
It has made a good use of the natural and geographical conditions.
A catfish farm covering an area of more than 1,000 square meters has been built in the Tokpho area. It produces thousands of adults and over 100,000 fry a year.
People in Taho-ri cultivate various kinds of vegetables with hot spring water in the Chilbosan Greenhouse Vegetable Farm with an acreage of 5 hectares even in winter. And they have introduced the hot spring water into heating public buildings including nurseries and kindergartens and farm dwelling houses.
Those in Manho-ri are making use of hot spring water in producing nutritive fruit-bearing vegetables at two greenhouses all the year round.
There are hot spring water bath-houses in Yangjong-ri, Manho-ri, Kocham-ri and all other ris of the county. The hot spring water is applied to sprouting seeds in spring.
Modernly furnished sanatoriums have been built in the county to improve health of working people.
