Candlelight Rally against Expansion of U.S. Military Base Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) — The 54th candlelight cultural rally against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek reportedly took place around “Chongwadae” in Seoul on June 23.

Speakers said at the rally that they cannot repress their surging resentment at the “government” ignoring their life-and-death struggle against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek even though it continued.

Unpardonable is the sycophantic traitorous act of the “government” intended to leave this land to the mercy of the U.S. forces, indifferent to the existence of the people despite the fact that it is as clear as noonday to turn Phyongthaek into a base for a war of aggression, the speakers stressed.

They stressed the need to actively wage a struggle against the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement and a struggle against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek at the same time.
