Folk Dance Company of Russia Performs in Pyongyang

Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) — An art performance was given by the visiting State Academic Moiseyev Folk Dance Company of Russia at the Ponghwa Art Theatre on Friday before capacity audience.

Appreciating the performance were Kang Nung Su, minister of Culture, officials concerned and creators and artistes in the field of culture and arts.

Among the audience were Alexander Matsegora, charge d’affaires a.i., and staff members of the Russian embassy and diplomatic envoys and staff members of foreign embassies here.

The Russian artistes gave this performance in Pyongyang in the wake of their successful performance tour of local areas in the DPRK. In the repertoire they made a truthful artistic representation of the optimistic life, national emotion and customs of the Russians and various other nations.

In a dance “Partisans” well known to the Korean people the performers successfully depicted the valiant struggle of the Russian people against the aggressors during the Patriotic War, meeting its ideological and thematic need.

In dances “Summer,” “Small Steppe” and fleet dance suite “A Day on Warship” they made a successful artistic depiction of the Russian army and people’s ardent love for the country and their optimistic life.

Moldovan humorous dance “Tabakeryaska”, Uzbek dance “Dance with a Plate” and other dances fully reflected the optimistic life and national customs of the peoples of different countries.

A floral basket was conveyed to the performers in congratulation of their successful performance.
