Halt to Military Exercises RIMPAC-2006 Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) — The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration reportedly made public a statement titled “Stop large-scale north-targeted war exercises RIMPAC” on June 26.

The statement noted that the U.S.-led large joint military exercises RIMPAC-2006 were launched on June 25 in the waters of the Pacific and will last until July 29 as part of the moves to invade the north.

It said that the exercises now being staged by the U.S. and its followers under the pretext of “ensuring security” in sea routes and “jointly countering terrorism” in contingency are the most provocative and dangerous war maneuvers targeted against the north in their scale and duration.

Terming the participation in the war exercises against the fellow countrymen in the north in pursuance of the U.S. policy a crime against the nation, the statement called upon all the people to turn out in the actions against the exercises and for the pullback of the U.S. forces from south Korea.
