Rally of Young Vanguard Held

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) — A rally of the young vanguard was held at the plaza of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace on Wednesday with at least 20,000 youths and students in Pyongyang in attendance.

Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made a report at the meeting. The reporter and speakers said the youths and students will become a true youth vanguard devotedly defending the leader by devoting the springtime of their life to Kim Jong Il, always mindful that the immortality of President Kim Il Sung, the eternal prosperity of Kim Il Sung’s nation and the bright future of Songun Korea lie in upholding the idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il who is recording the heyday of the Korean youth movement.

The youth and students, they declared, will make a new leaping forward and innovations startling the world, bring abundant crops to the socialist land, break a new ground of latest science and technology by hastening the general advance of the Songun revolution as befitting the vanguard in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation, and thus uphold the intention of the Workers’ Party of Korea to boost the overall economy of the country in the near future.

They manifested firm resolution to enhance the role of the officials of the youth league to build up the whole league more firmly into a crystal of devoted defenders of the leader, a pure body of single-minded unity, remaining loyal to the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, thereby discharging the honorable mission and duty of the reserve combat unit and a detached force of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.

Present at the rally were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and officials of the youth league.
