Settlement of “Comfort Women” Issue Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) — The Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps and other organizations concerned in south Korea reportedly called a news conference in front of the “constitutional court” on July 5, in which they demanded the “government” show zeal for an early settlement of the issue of the victims to the drafting of “comfort women” for the imperial Japanese army.

The victims to “comfort women” drafting told the reporters that the south Korean “government” was not fulfilling its duty, fearing friction with Japan, far from endeavoring for the settlement of the issue, though the victims were living in misfortunes and sufferings after their human rights were violated by Japan.

Recalling that the “government” clarified its stand not to demand compensation of the Japanese government, under the excuse of “preventing argument of attrition with the Japanese side”, they said this was an attitude of evading its legal obligation to the victims and an act of disregarding their demand and efforts.

The press release read out at the press conference urged the “government” to take positive steps to wrest full apology and compensation from the Japanese government which is trying to evade responsibility of any form after committing anti-human right crimes.

The press release urged the “constitutional court” to pass a decision on the wrong act of the “government” regarding the issue of the victims to the drafting of “comfort women”.
