Anti-U.S. Solidarity Rally Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) — The Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, the Anti-U.S. Youth League, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification and other civic and public organizations reportedly held the 82nd anti-U.S. solidarity rally in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on July 11.

At the rally speakers called upon the people to make all efforts to check the “government’s” moves to evict residents for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and said that they would wage a vigorous struggle including a general strike and a candle-light rally in protest against the negotiations for the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement.

At the rally a written protest to the U.S. ambassador in Seoul was read out.

The protest strongly demanded the dissolution of the “south Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command” and the “UN Command” and the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea and stressed that the organizations would certainly check the moves for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek by pooling the will of all the people.
