Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) — Fifteen years have passed since Kim Jong Il made public the famous work “On the Art of Music” on July 17, Juche 80 (1991). It is a grand encyclopedia giving perfect answers to the theoretical and practical issues arising in the construction of the Juche-based musical art.
The work is also a library of theories on music art which comprehends the brilliant exploits and experience performed by him in the building and creation of Juche-based music. And it is a guiding principle that firmly ensures the constant development of the Korean music.
It clarifies the essence and characteristics of the Juche-based music and how its tradition was formed and carried forward. And it also solves fundamental and theoretical issues related with its content and form and advances the principles and ways for building it.
Over the last years the Korean creators and musicians have thoroughly applied the ideas and theories of Kim Jong Il in creating a lot of famous musical pieces of times. As a result, the revolutionary songs inspire the working people in the revolution and construction.
In particular, the State Merited Chorus of the Korean People’s Army, State Symphony Orchestra, Mansudae Art Troupe, Phibada Opera Troupe and State National Art Troupe have taken the lead in embodying the ideas and theories of the work.
Various popular art activities with the participation of people from all walks of life show the popularization of the developing Juche-based musical art. Typical of them are the contests among art groups of families of servicemen of the KPA and national song contests of working people.
