Stop to Crackdown upon Movement of Youth and Students Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) — Jang Song Hoe, chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), reportedly issued a statement on July 28 calling upon the security authorities to immediately withdraw the “National Security Law” blocking the democratization of the society and the movement for reunification and stop the anachronistic crackdown upon the movement of youth and students.

The statement accused the security authorities of dispatching agents tasked to watch the movement of university students affiliated to Hanchongryon and deciding to restart the investigation into the south Korean Council of Youth Organizations (Hanchong) labeled “enemy-benefiting organization” which had been temporarily suspended.

No matter how desperately the security authorities and anti-reunification forces invoke the NSL, they can never hold in check the advance of the progressive and pro-reform forces nor can they break their will to carry on their struggle, the statement noted.
