Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) — Students of Kim Il Sung University in the DPRK won a trophy, two gold prizes and two speed prizes in the Asian regional preliminaries to get qualification for the 40th ICPC (International College Programming Contest) to be held this year.
Taking part in the preliminaries, divided into 200-odd groups, were more than 600 students from at least 120 universities.
In the preliminary contest each group had to solve the ten questions in five hours and its standings were decided according to which group solved more questions in speed and correctness.
The chairperson of the Asian regional contest organizing committee said Kim Il Sung University has a high capability, expressing the hope to attend an international academic symposium in the DPRK to be held on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.
The achievement made by students of Kim Il Sung University gives a glimpse of the vitality of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s idea of attaching importance to science and talents.
