Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) — A number of international and national sports contests are to be held in the DPRK in Juche 105 (2016).
The international contests include the 24th Paektusan Prize International Figure Skating Festival to be held here in February in celebration of the Day of the Shining Star and the IAAF-28th Mangyongdae Prize Marathon in April to celebrate the Day of the Sun.
The GAC group 2016 ITTF World Tour Challenge Series-Pyongyang Open is also slated for June and July.
Among the national games for this year are the Paektusan Prize Sports Games (February), Mangyongdae Prize Sports Games (March-April), the Sports Contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize (June), Sports Contest for Songun Torch Prize (June), Sports Contest for Jonsung Cup (July), the Osandok Prize Sports Contest (December) scheduled to be held in Pyongyang, Hamhung, Phyongsong, Sariwon and Samjiyon, etc.
In particular, the 13th People’s Games is expected to be the biggest one among those domestic sports games.
Besides, in the intervals of those big games are the national youth championship, the national juvenile championship, the 53rd National Games of Juvenile Sports Schools, the men’s premier soccer league for Torch Cup, the women’s premier soccer league for celebrating the founding anniversary of the DPRK (September 9), cross-country relays, indoor athletic championship, national contest of university basketball teams and so on.
