Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) — The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) on January 23 declared a general strike in protest against the authorities’ announcement of the guidelines for the retrogressive revision of the labor law.

That day the KCTU held a meeting to declare a general strike in Seoul.
At the end of the meeting at Seoul Railway Station its participants staged a demonstration as far as Seoul Square.
Then more than 5,000 unionists held a rally there for declaring a general strike to hold in check the retrogressive revision of the labor law and shatter the “government’s” guidelines.
They declared they would kick off a general strike on January 25.
