Agricultural Workers Meet

Jaeryong, April 7 (KCNA) — Agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) met in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province Thursday to observe the 23rd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il’s election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

Ri Myong Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the UAWK, made a report to be followed by speeches.
The reporter and speakers said that Kim Jong Il’s election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK served as an epochal event for achieving the prosperity of the country and carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche and Songun.
They noted that the days when Kim Jong Il led all state affairs, assuming the heavy responsibility as the chairman of the National Defence Commission represented a glorious period in which the political and military might of the DPRK remarkably grew stronger, the foundation of the self-supporting national economy consolidated and example of the era for building a socialist state was set.
They underscored the need to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and eternal chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and hold fast to his Songun revolutionary idea and exploits as ever-victorious treasured sword of the Korean revolution.
They called for achieving labor successes in the 70-day campaign of loyalty united close around the Party Central Committee and thus shining the Seventh Party Congress as a glorious one of victors.
Present there were Pak Thae Sop, secretary of the South Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials concerned and agricultural workers and members of the UAWK in the county.
