Concert Celebrates Day of Sun in U.S.

Pyongyang, April 8 (KCNA) — A concert “April Spring” took place with splendor at the Merkin Theatre in Manhattan of New York City on April 2 with the approach of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung (the Day of the Sun). It was performed by Korean artistes in the U.S. and American artistes.

It was enjoyed by Koreans in the U.S., Americans, members of the DPRK permanent mission in the UN and foreign diplomats.
It began with violin concerto “Nostalgia”, a masterpiece, conducted by Ri Jun Mu, head of the Uruk Symphony Orchestra. Put on the stage were such pieces as “We Pledge,” fourth movement of the symphony “Leader Is Always with Us” which shows the faith and will of all the service personnel and people of the DPRK to hold President Kim Il Sung as the sun of Juche for all ages, orchestra “A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain” and female solo “Let’s Go to Mountains and Seas” and foreign classical music.
The concert reached its climax with the performance of the immortal revolutionary hymn “Song of General Kim Il Sung”.
The audience said despite the recent tense situation in which the DPRK-U.S. relations have been frozen and the Korean peninsula has been driven to the brink of war, the hymn of the sun echoed in the U.S. once again, praising the DPRK for fully displaying its dignity and might.
