Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) — The 30th April Spring Friendship Art Festival which opened on April 11 closed with due ceremony at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Sunday.
The festival was a grand international art gathering of progressives reflecting their ardent yearning for President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and their faith and will to deeply trust and follow Marshal Kim Jong Un.
The participants in the festival significantly celebrated the birth anniversary of the President by presenting colorful pieces prepared with sincerity and made a contribution to developing culture and art of mankind.
The performances of the festival were enjoyed by a lot of people, school youth and children, foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations here, military attaches and staff members of foreign embassies here and other foreign guests and overseas Koreans.
Present at the closing ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, officials concerned, citizens, foreign artistes, overseas Korean artistes, foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international bodies, military attaches and staff members of foreign embassies here and other foreign guests.
Group prize was awarded to the State Academic Voronezh Russian Folk Choir, the State Cossacks Dance Company “Stavropolye” of Russia, the Flamenco Band of Spain, the art troupe of Koreans in Japan and the art troupe of Koreans in China and prize of merits, prize of creation, individual prize and prize of ensemble went to many artistes and works.
Gold cups corresponding to the festival prizes, gold and silver prizes and diplomas were awarded to them.
A letter to supreme leader Kim Jong Un to be presented by the participants in the festival was adopted.
Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture and chairman of the festival organizing committee, made a closing address.
At the end of the closing ceremony performances were given by foreign artistes who deeply impressed the audience during the festival.
