Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNAA) — The Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea on May 2 received a congratulatory message from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Portugal on the occasion of the Seventh Congress of the WPK.
The message noted that the congress would make a contribution to realizing the greatest desire of the working class and other people of the DPRK to achieve peace, social progress and Korea’s reunification.
The message said the Communist Party of Portugal always remembers the fact that the WPK has carried forward the ardent patriotism and revolutionary tradition displayed by the Korean people in the struggle for the liberation from the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists and the matchless self-sacrificing spirit demonstrated by them in the 1950-1953 war against the U.S. imperialists and in the struggle to defend the country’s sovereignty from the threat of imperialists, the main cause of tension and the danger of a war in the region over the last several decades.
It expressed solidarity of the Communist Party of Portugal with the WPK in its efforts to achieve Korea’s peaceful reunification, seek the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and the region and attain the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, peace and social progress.
