Koreans in U.S. Hold Memorial Service for Kwangju Uprisers

Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) — Koreans in Chicago, U.S. held a memorial service on May 17, 36 years after the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising.

The participants honored the memory of the Kwangju uprisers who laid down their lives for independence and democracy against the fascist military dictatorship.
Then they watched the video dealing with the feats of the Kwangju uprisers and indiscriminate massacre against them 36 years ago.
They recalled that the noble spirit of the Kwangju uprisers had a great impact on the movement for democracy.
The participants called for bringing earlier the day of national reunification.
