S. Korean Authorities Should Not Misjudge DPRK’s Sincerity and Tolerance: Koreans in China

Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) — The Liaoning Regional Association of the General Association of Koreans in China issued a statement on May 23 in which it supports an open letter of the DPRK National Defence Commission calling upon the south side to respond to the DPRK’s positive and practical measures to tide over the present catastrophe in north-south relations through dialogue and negotiations and defuse military tension and the danger of conflict on the Korean peninsula.

The statement said that the DPRK’s proposal for north-south military authorities’ talks is a realistic measure for peace of the country and the security of the nation.
The south Korean authorities should decisively break with the shameful past and make a new start by accepting the resolute and practical measures for peace of the country and security of the nation, it said, and went on:
They should not misjudge the DPRK’s sincerity and tolerance but behave wisely as befit members of the Korean nation.
But all Koreans are bitterly disappointed by the south Korean authorities’ unreasonable behavior of denying the DPRK’s broadminded and sincere appeal, without closely examining it, and standing in the way of national reunification, parroting the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK.
All Koreans are closely watching the attitude of the south Korean authorities.
All the members of the Liaoning Regional Association actively support the open letter of the DPRK National Defence Commission and will make all efforts for its realization together with the people in the homeland.
