Opposition Parties of South Korea Demand Dismissal of Chief of “Patriots and Veterans Affairs Agency”

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) — The floor leaders of the south Korean opposition Minju Party, Party of People and Party of Justice jointly proposed a motion demanding the dismissal of Pak Sung Chun, chief of the “Patriots and Veterans Affairs Agency”, according to MBC of south Korea on June 23.

Pak reportedly attempted to let the 11th airborne special warfare brigade of the south Korean puppet army stage a “march” along streets of Kwangju City recently on the occasion of June 25, the day when the Korean war broke out. The brigade earned an ill-fame for mercilessly massacring uprisers and citizens during the Kwangju Popular Uprising in May, 1980.
He deliberately linked the public demand for setting and singing the song “March for Dear Ones” reflecting the desire of the then uprisers as the song of the ceremony marking the May 18 movement for democracy with the DPRK and had turned it down only to trigger off strong public criticism in south Korea.
Terming his acts a mockery at the Kwangju citizens, the floor leaders urged the “president” to fire him at once.
