Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) — The symposium on space science and technology-2016 opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex on Tuesday. It is sponsored by the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea. It is aiming at activating exchange of technology on manufacturing satellite and its applied technology and positively contributing to developing the economy of the country and improving the people’s living standard.
The symposium is divided into six panels including the panel of the satellite manufacturing, the panel of space materials and elements and the panel of applied technology.
Presented were more than 250 papers from educational and scientific research institutions of 20 odd units including the National Aerospace Development Administration, State Academy of Sciences, Academy of Social Sciences, Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology and the State Hydro-meteorological Administration.
The symposium will academically prove in depth the achievements and applied experience gained in the work for conquering space including the significance and importance of the space development for peaceful purposes, satellite manufacturing and controlling technology and it will widely discuss the realistic problems arising in the building of a space power.
During the period the participants will have several lectures on science and technology and watch videos.
Present at the opening ceremony were officials of the Korea Space Association and officials concerned, scientists, technicians, teachers, researchers and university students in the field of space science.
The symposium will last till November 24.
