Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) — A kimchi-making contest was held here some days ago.
Taking part in the contest, divided into two sections–whole cabbage kimchi sampling and show of various kinds of kimchi (pickled vegetables)–, were more than 30 units under the General Bureau of Public Service.
Whole cabbage kimchi is made with mixture of sliced radish and powdered red pepper, garlic, ginger and other seasonings and salted shrimp, pollack and pear.
The kinds of kimchi include wrapped-up kimchi, pickled sliced radishes and cabbages seasoned with pepper and leaf-mustard kimchi.
Okryu and Chongryu restaurants, Pyongyang Noodle House, Munsu Restaurant and several other units won a high appreciation at the contest.
The contest marked a significant occasion in further developing the traditional kimchi-making method at homes.
