Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) — A national meeting took place at the Central Youth Hall Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of Samil Wolgan, a revolutionary publication, founded by President Kim Il Sung.
Present at the meeting were Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), officials, journalists, editors and others in the field of media and printing.
Kim Ki Nam made a report.
He said that the foundation of Samil Wolgan on Dec. 1, 1936 during the anti-Japanese revolution marked a noteworthy event in the media history of the WPK and the Korean people’s history of revolutionary struggle.
Samil Wolgan was a model of the Juche-oriented media as it took a special place in the history of the Korean revolution attaching importance to writing brush and a revolutionary publication which left an inerasable mark in the history of media in the present era, the reporter said, and went on:
It was a revolutionary publication which made a great contribution to the work for realizing the monolithic leadership of the President over the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and the overall Korean revolution.
This publication played the role of a bugle for advance and standard-bearer in the struggle as it armed the anti-Japanese guerrillas and people with the President’s idea of attaching importance to arms and powerfully encouraged them in the death-defying armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists.
It was a model of the Juche-based publications as it provided the precious tradition for our publications to protect and carry forward down through generations.
The tradition of Samil Wolgan and other revolutionary publications and their exploits have been steadily carried forward under the leadership of the great leaders and the great party.
The reporter called for augmenting in every way the militant might of Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist publications and more powerfully inspiring all the service personnel and civilians to turn out in the general offensive for building a socialist power, in hearty response to the decision of the Seventh Congress of the WPK.
