Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) — An event took place at the People’s Palace of Culture here on Thursday to mark World AIDS Day.
Present there were officials in the field of public health, officials of relevant units, the representative of the WHO, the UN resident coordinator and UNDP resident representative in the DPRK and staff members of missions of other international bodies and those of foreign embassies here.
Speakers said that it is a common task facing all countries to reduce mortality caused by AIDS, stressing the need to intensify the surveillance activities in order to prevent virus contagion and spread.
The participants watched a video and technical data on AIDS preventive campaign was presented.
They watched posters on display and enjoyed a performance given by university students.
On the same day, intensive information services on prevention of AIDS were conducted at health information service halls in Pyongyang and provincial seats.
