Memorial Service for Kim Jong Il Held in Tokyo

Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) — A memorial service of Koreans in Japan took place at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo on Saturday, the fifth anniversary of demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

Placed before the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il were floral baskets reflecting boundless loyalty of the officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and other compatriots.
The platform of the event was taken by Chairman Ho Jong Man, Vice-Chairmen Nam Sung U and Pae Ik Ju of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and other Koreans and representatives of students of Korean University and Korean high schools.
The participants in the service paid silent tribute to the memory of Kim Jong Il.
Ho Jong Man said in his memorial address that the revolutionary life of Kim Jong Il was that of a great statesman who ushered in the new era of the Juche revolution, the era in which the revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung is being carried forward in all fields, cherishing absolute loyalty to him.
Noting that Kim Jong Il took warm care of Koreans in Japan, calling them members of the same family and showed all sorts of love for them, saying that there is nothing to spare for Chongryon and Koreans in Japan, he went on:
Chongryon and Koreans in Japan have turned out to implement the behests of Kim Jong Il, with the firm faith that he is always alive thanks to the distinguished leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
Pledge-taking speeches were made by Kang Chu Ryon, vice-chairwoman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the women’s union; Jo Il Yon, chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon; Jang Pyong Thae, rector of Korean University; and Kim Yong Ju, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Youth League in Japan.
Similar memorial services took place in Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Aichi, Ibaragi, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Hokkaido and other prefectural headquarters of Chongryon on the same day.
