Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) — The south Korean Kyunghyang Daily News on March 18 carried an editorial terming U.S. Secretary of State Tillerson’s remarks on denuclearization of the north and dialogue a dangerous scenario.
Noting that Tillerson during his visit to south Korea said the U.S. would start dialogue with north Korea only when it dismantles nuclear weapons and WMD, the editorial went on:
The assertion on “abandonment of nuclear program first and dialogue next” is little short of rejecting dialogue under the present situation where the north has no will to “abandon its nuclear program”.
He talked about the military option and expressed the will to ratchet up “sanctions against the north”.
His remarks run counter to the stand of the people desirous of the peaceful settlement of the “nuclear issue of the north”.
The U.S. new “policy toward north Korea” should begin with fully reflecting on its past policy and stands of neighboring countries.
