Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) — The 5th April Spring People’s Art Festival was opened with due ceremony at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Monday in celebration of the 105th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
The art festival brought together more than 1,500 artistes and working people of over 40 organizations selected in the capital and local areas. It is divided into categories of art troupes, art squads, itinerant art squads and art groups with a magic festival to be included.
Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee, and Cha Hui Rim, chairman of the Pyongyang City People’s Committee, officials concerned, participants in the art festival and working people in the city.
Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture, said in his inaugural speech that the art festival is a great political art festival of Juche Korea where the participants will represent through dances and songs the people’s intense loyalty to the great leaders, their oath of unshakable faith to respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and their conviction and optimism in the final victory of the revolution.
He expressed the belief that the festival would instill the revolutionary enthusiasm into the Korean people and rev up the atmosphere celebrating the Day of the Sun.
Then followed an opening performance.
