19th Kimilsungia Festival Opens

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) — The 19th Kimilsungia Festival opened here to celebrate the 105th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The festival on the theme “Kimilsungia fully blooms in the new era of country’s prosperity” exhibits tens of thousands of potted Kimilsungias cultivated by more than 80 units, including armed forces organs, ministries and national institutions and people from all walks of life, youths and students.
Also on display are Kimilsungias presented by overseas Koreans organizations and compatriots, foreign embassies and missions of international bodies here and friendly and solidarity organizations and personages from different countries.
The opening ceremony took place at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition House on Thursday.
Present there were Kim Ki Nam, Yang Hyong Sop and officials of the festival-organizing committee and units that presented the flowers of the sun, overseas compatriots’ congratulatory groups and delegations, compatriots, officials of the Indonesian embassy here, members of organizations for supporting the dissemination of the famous flower and foreign guests.
Kim Chang Do, chairman of the Korea Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, in his opening address expressed belief that the festival would powerfully encourage the army and people of the DPRK in their efforts to translate the patriotic desire of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il for the building of a power into a reality and greatly contribute to developing the good neighborly and friendly relations with the world progressive peoples.
Bambang Hiendrasto, Indonesian ambassador to the DPRK, said in his congratulatory speech that he deemed it a high pride and honor to take part in the opening ceremony of the festival, hoping that the friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries would grow stronger with Kimilsungia as a symbol.
