70th Anniversary of Korean Democratic Women’s Union in Japan Marked

Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) — Events were held in Tokyo on April 25-26 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Korean Democratic Women’s Union (KDWU) in Japan.

Present there were Ho Jong Man, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Kang Chu Ryon, vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and chairman of the KDWU Central Standing Committee, leading officials of institutions at all levels of Chongryon, members of the union, Koreans and Japanese personages.
There was an art performance “Carrying forward Single Mind” given by members of art groups and Korean women in Kanto area and participants in art contest from various areas.
Its numbers included chorus and dance “Ode to the Motherland” and Kayagum ensemble “Under the Sky of Alien Land”.
The art contest was attended by more than 350 union members belonging to 34 art groups from various areas of Japan.
The contest was divided into vocal, national musical instrument and dance panels.
Kang Chu Ryon made a speech at a reception.
A performance was given by artistes of Kumgangsan Opera Troupe there.
