Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) — The Mangyongdae Children’s Camp marks the 60th anniversary of its founding.
The camp is a base for extracurricular education associated with the loving care of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
Kim Il Sung visited the camp three times and gave instructions to spruce up the camp, personally mapping out a route for mountain-climbing.
Kim Jong Il settled the problems arising in management and operation of the camp and provided lots of facilities and cultural apparatuses to it.
The camp set as its foundation day May 12, Juche 46 (1957) when the leader climbed Mt Ryongak together with students of the Pyongyang Middle School No. 1.
Over the past years it has turned into an excellent palace and a model of extracurricular education bases for schoolchildren.
A meeting was held Thursday to mark the 60th anniversary of the camp. Attending it were Choe Ryong Hae, Jon Yong Nam, first secretary of the C.C., the youth league and teaching staff and campers of the camp.
