Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) — The General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) Wednesday issued an appeal to all Koreans in Japan on the lapse of 11 years since the publication of the May 17 joint statement.
The appeal recalled that on May 17, 2006, representatives of Chongryon and the south Korean Residents Association issued a joint statement reflecting their joint will to put an end to the antipathy and confrontation between the two organizations and contribute to the reunification and prosperity of the country and unity of the Korean community by getting reconciled and harmony.
Now is the time for all Koreans in Japan to turn out for the unity of the Korean community and national reunification, the cherished desire of the nation, enshrining the spirit of the May 17 joint statement, the appeal said.
It called upon all Koreans to turn out as one in the nation-wide struggle to usher in the great avenue to independent reunification and the second June 15 era.
