Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) — Today is the world day of biological diversity.

On this occasion, the UN set its theme in “Biological Diversity and Sustainable Tourism” to call for positively protecting biological resources which ensure various tourist resources, cultural and emotional life and natural benefits to all mankind.
The DPRK has been pushed ahead with protecting biological diversity and developing rich tourist resources with several laws on protecting biological resources enacted.
There are many tourist destinations in the DPRK like Pyongyang, Wonsan and Kaesong cities and Mts Paektu, Kumgang and Myohyang.
Now, big efforts have been paid to developing the Wonsan-Mt Kumgang international tourist zone, an aggregation of natural and social tourist resources.
In recent years, Wonsan, a port city of the DPRK, has been turned into a tourist destination for summer and winter seasons with the completion of the Masikryong Ski Resort and the remodeling of Songdowon International Children’s Camp.
