Day of Torch for Increased Coal Production Drive Observed

Kaechon, May 24 (KCNA) — The DPRK commemorated the 40th anniversary of torch ignited by leader Kim Jong Il for a patriotic drive of increased coal production.

In Juche 66 (1977) the leader took a step to spread the torch of socialist patriotic increased coal production drive, initiated by the members of the Phibada Guards of the Coal Production Workteam No. 1 of the Youth Production Pit of the Jagang Provincial Supply Coal Mine of the Kaechon Area Coal Mining Complex, to other coal mines across the country.
The members of the Phibada Guards, under his deep trust, additionally produced several thousand tons of coal in a little more than two months since the start of the drive and all workteams of the coal mine turned out 14 700 more tons of coal that year.
A commemorative meeting took place at the complex on Wednesday.
